SOME OF OUR PROJECTS
JAMAICA
Jamaica is where the seed for the creation of CVC was planted.
It started more than 30 years ago, with 4 students doing a mission project in their final year of university .
Those same doctors have returned to Jamaica twice a year, every year since then.
AFRICA
We at CVC are proud to have helped build an optometry school in Malawi.
Optometrists will now graduate every year in growing numbers to help and teach Africans about eyecare.
We have also completed and ongoing projects in:
- Kenya
- Tanzania
- Madagascar
PHILIPPINES
After the devastation caused by the recent conditions, the CVC team decide to go help with a mission project. While visiting, an opportunity arose to build a clinic in an old train car. Within a year the clinic was built and operational. The Eye Train project has now been in existence for more than a decade, has provided service to more than 100,000 people and is a training clinic for two Philippine Universities.

GUYANA
Notes from the field; A Canadian Vision Care outreach project to Guyana.
"We drove in the darkness and rain to the town of Berbice. There were hundreds of
patients waiting for us when we arrived. Logistics were worked out and a plan
was developed; soon we were seeing patients. They ranged in age
from age 3 to 102. The pathology consisted mainly of cataracts, glaucoma and pterygium. Of particular note we saw albinism, aniridia, diabetic retinopathy and
countless toxoplasmosis lesions. By the end of the five days, we had seen 1237
patients.
The Guyanese patients were very grateful and thanked us many times for our help"
CAMBODIA
Volunteers from Ontario and Alberta plan a trip to go help provide eyecare services in rural Cambodia.
